Hunter Bayless was the star for the Weatherford Lady Eagles in Saturday’s 14-4 win against district rival Elgin.

The right fielder went 3-4 with 4 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. One of her hits was a home run.

Weatherford was up early and rallied after Elgin took a brief lead.

In the bottom of the first, Meliah Brown led off the game with a home run over the wall in center field. Camry Teasley drew a walk. Bayless hit a 2-run home run over the wall in center field. Weatherford was up 3-0 after the first inning.

Elgin took a brief lead in the top of the third, after scoring on an error, a batter hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and 2 runs on an error. It was 4-3 Elgin.

Weatherford came right back, taking the lead for good. Bayless doubled to center field to lead off the inning. Abbie Moses reached base on an error and Weatherford had runners on the corners with no one out. Bayless scored as Kennedy Stewart doubled to left field. The game was tied, 4-4.

Cydnee Henderson reached base on an error, then Weatherford took the lead when Megan Mills walked with the bases loaded and Moses scored. Brown reached base on an error, allowing both Stewart and Henderson to score. It was 7-4 Weatherford.

In the bottom of the fifth, Weatherford added 2 runs. Vanessa Davis led off the inning with a walk. Two batters later, Brown walked. Both Hayden Warren, pinch running for Davis, and Brown scored when Bayless singled to right field. it was 9-4 Lady Eagles.

Weatherford added 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Dacey Morris singled to right field to lead off the inning. Randi Helt then singled to put two on with no one out. Morris scored on an error and Helt scored on a passed ball before Davis singled to right field. Weatherford was ahead 11-4.

Warren came in to pinch-run for Davis and scored a run as C Chase hit a home run, the third of the game, over the wall in center field. Brown singled to center field and Teasley doubled to center field. Brown scored on a passed ball and the game was called due to run rule.

Brown pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 runs, 6 hits, walking one and striking out six. With the win, Weatherford now is 8-1 in district play, a game behind Tuttle. The two teams play today at Tuttle.
