Bobcats split last week’s games

The Hydro-Eakly Bobcats baseball team played four baseball games last week and won two, but lost two games.

Tuesday, they played Arapaho-Butler and this game went down to the wire with Hydro-Eakly winning 3-2. Thursday, they returned home and defeated Fletcher 5-4. Saturday, they played two games at Navajo and lost both. They lost to Cheyenne 3-2 and lost to Navajo 10-3 and Navajo.

Cheyenne 3, Hydro-Eakly 2

Both sides showed great pitching as Hydro-Eakly recorded 13 strikeouts and Cheyenne had 8 strikeouts.

Trenton Coe pitched for 3 innings, only giving up a hit and 2 runs, but recorded 5 strikeouts. Nolan Gore threw 4 innings to relieve Coe.

Kaeden Harris, Gore, Tanner Wilburn and Coe all had a hit in the game. Hydro-Eakly stole 10 bases during the game and Coe stole three bases in this game.

Cheyenne scored a run in the first inning off a stolen base. The Bobcats responded in the bottom of the fourth inning by scoring a run and the game was tied at 2. Cheyenne scored a run later in the game and defeated Hydro-Eakly 3-2.

Navajo 10, Hydro-Eakly 3

The Bobcats struggled to get the sticks going in this game and Navajo had no trouble as they won 10-3.

Hydro scored the first run of the game in the top of the first as Carson Propps hit a triple. After that, it was all Navajo as Navajo scored 6 runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Harris pitched for Hydro-Eakly, pitching for almost five innings. All 10 of Navajo’s runs were scored on him, but he had two strikeouts and a walk. Coe came into relieve Harris for the remainder of the game.

Paxton Price, Gore, Coe and Propps each had a hit for Hydro-Eakly. Hydro-Eakly 5, Fletcher 4

In this game, Price pitched for 4 innings and recorded 3 strikeouts. He gave up 4 walks, 5 hits and an earned run while pitching.

Coe pitched 3 innings, had a walk, gave up 4 hits and 3 earned runs, but got the got the win at the end of the game.

Kolsen Tharp got on base four times with 4 walks. Wilburn went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Price went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Gore went 1-4 and Coe went 2-3 and scored 3 runs. KJ Hoyle went 1-3 with an RBI. Calynn Henderson went 1-1 and scored a run.

Hydro-Eakly 3, Arapaho-Butler 2

Gore was the pitcher the entire way through and he had 7 strikeouts

In the top of the first, Propps batted in Tharp giving Hydro a 1-0 lead after the top of the first.

In the top of the third, Propps hit a shot to right field off the fence for a stand up double. Price hit a ground ball to shortstop and was thrown out, but Wilburn scored from third. Gore hit a single to right field and Propps scored from third base and Hydro was ahead 3-0 going into the bottom of the third.

Arapaho responded by hitting a home run. After the home run was hit, Gore struck out two and the score was 3-1 going into the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Arapaho was threatening to score, but Hydro turned a double play, keeping the score at 3-1 going into the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Hydro committed a couple errors and there were runners in first and second with two outs. With a full count and two outs, Gore walked the batter and the bases were loaded.

Arapaho hit a single to left field and the score was 3-2, Hydro with the bases still loaded. Arapaho hit the ball to left field, but this time, KJ Hoyle caught the ball giving Hydro a 3-2 win against Arapaho.
