Cordell suspects face charges related to burglaries of tools, ice chests and gasoline cans

CORDELL — Two Cordell residents are facing charges related to several burglaries which have taken place in that city.

Allegedly taken were $4,000 worth of tools, two Yeti ice chests and two gasoline cans.

Kobe Lynn Kennemer, 18, faces charges of grand larceny, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Matthew Dylan Gulikers, 22, faces charges of knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property, a felony, possession of firearm while on supervision by Department of Corrections, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Guliker’s case, Washita County Sheriff’s deputy Curtis Weatherly went to Gulikers’ residence after receiving information regarding two Yeti ice chests believed to be inside his residence.

Guliker told Weatherly he’d purchased the ice chests from a person he described as a thief and allegedly named Kennemer, court records indicate.

Guliker also allegedly admitted to being the driver during of a vehicle used in the theft of two gasoline cans taken from a Cordell residence. Guliker told Weatherly he saw Kennemer exit the vehicle, walk to the front porch and take the cans, court records indicate.

When asked about a set of tools worth about $4,000, Guliker told Weatherly Kennemer allegedly took them and Guliker was keeping them at his house before taking them to another residence in Cordell, court records indicate.

Weatherly went back to Guliker’s residence during the investigation and during a walk-through of the residence, Weatherly saw a black handgun in plain sight siting on a table next to the bed inside a room, court records indicate.

After Weatherly checked for a criminal record on Guliker, he found Guliker was on probation for a case in Pottawatomie County. Guliker was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm while on probation, petit larceny, and knowingly concealing stolen property, court records indicate.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Kennemer’s case, Weatherly interviewed Kennemer to ask about his involvement in the thefts, court records indicate.

Kennemer confessed his alleged involvement in the theft of the two gasoline cans, court records indidate.

Weatherly arrested Kennemer on suspicion of petit larceny.

At the Washita County Jail, Weatherly interviewed Kennemer again, where he confessed to allegedly being in the pickup with Gulikers when he took the gasoline cans off the porch, court records indicate.

He also confessed to the alleged theft of $4,000 worth of tools and the theft of the two ice chests, along with a power washer, court records indicate.

Both men had their initial appearance at the jail Thursday morning. No additional court dates have been set yet.
