The Custer County Commissioners approved a petition to foreclose the right to reopen portions of a street in Thomas during the regular meeting Monday morning.

The petition lists the portion of land as a 30-foot wide street between Tracts H-1 and T-1 in the northeast quarter of Section 25, Township 15 North, Range 15 W.I.M. On a map, this portion appears as East Rice Street in Thomas. This portion serves as a private drive which curves off the end of 2nd Street.

The petition is a formality which allows the City of Thomas to close the Rice Street permanently. This is similar to Weatherford Public School’s petition to vacate a portion of Bryan Street although it was functionally part of the school already.

In other news, the board approved a contract between Custer County and Dietz Welding and Bridge Construction, Inc. The contract is for the $127,350 District 2 bridge project located along CR North 2420 and South of CR 960. Roads leading toward the bridge currently are closed.

The board signed a notice of sealed bids being taken for two trucks for District 1. The board also approved the update list of Custer County receiving and requisitioning agents for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The board approved monthly officers’ reports, alcoholic beverage certificates and appropriations along with minutes for the previous months. The board also approved the blanket purchase orders and purchase orders for payment.

The board reconvened into the Custer County Law Enforcement Center Trust where the trustees approved the minutes from the last meeting and received the trust update report. It was noted the interest from the trust was covering the expenditures due to changes made by the Custer County Excise Board. There was no further business.
