Wednesday, Washita-Custer County Treatment Court participants met to clean up the Custer County Fairgrounds.

The participants prepared the fair barns for upcoming livestock shows by removing old pine chips and sweeping floors. This endeavor took 2.5 hours for 19 participants to complete in the 90 degree heat.

Treatment Court Compliance Officer Daniel Evans of DOC, Treatment Court Coordinator Sarah Mears-Ivy and Fairgrounds Keeper Randy Jones helped as well.

“Pitching in to help out is what we do,” Treatment Court Coordinator Sarah Mears-Ivy said. “When we help out our communities, we are demonstrating our commitment to wellness and recovery to the very communities which support our participants as they recover from their substance use disorders. We could not have a program like this in Western Oklahoma without communities that help our participants by offering employment, social support, and second chances.”
