The Custer County Board of Commissioners instituted protocol for Custer County employees who test positive for COVID-19 or are in direct contact with those who does during its regular meeting Monday.

The protocol states employees who come into direct contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 must quarantine for 5 days and then test. If positive, they must remain in quarantine for 14 days. If negative, they can return to work.

Direct contact in this context refers to household members such as a spouse or child or contact within 6 feet for longer than 10 minutes.

If someone from a county office tests positive, they will need to quarantine for 14 days. All other staff in the office will need to practice social distancing, wear a mask and take their temperature every morning. Anyone showing symptoms will be required to test immediately and a copy of the test results must be brought to a supervisor.

Those who have positive or direct contact case in their office will need to notify County Clerk Melissa Graham. The county will need to reassess and adjust as the situation changes.
