Courthouse security director summoned for domestic abuse docket

A Custer County Sherriff’s department employee will be summoned to court for a domestic abuse docket, according to court records.

Duane Richardson had a protective order filed against him Monday. Richardson has been listed for a docket December 29, According to court records.

The alleged victim wrote in a protective order petition issued by Custer County District Court, she went to Richardson’s house to drop off items for embroidering. Richardson allegedly made unwanted sexual advances. The victim claims Richardson was a family friend.

The victim asked for three prohibitions against Richardson. The victim asked the defendant be prohibited from having any contact whatsoever with the victim, the defendant will be prohibited from causing any harm whatsoever and asked that Richardson be prohibited from engaging in other conduct which would place the protected person in reasonable fear of injury, court records indicate.

Richardson currently is employed as head of security at the Custer County Courthouse as part of the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, according to Custer County’s website. Custer County Sheriff Kenneth Tidwell confirmed Richardson is employed by the sheriff’s office.

Harper County Associate District Judge Aric A. Alley will be appointed to the case, according to court records.

District Judge Jill Weedon, Associate District Judge Donna Dirickson and Special Judge Stephanie Jones all have ordered recusals after originally being appointed for the case. The Sherrif’s department was not able to give infmoration as to whether or not Richardson was on administrative leave.
