COVID-19 numbers rise in county

35 active cases locally, 36 in Clinton

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Custer County currently has 77 active cases of COVID-19.

That represents a 28 percent increase from the day prior and may be due to the changes in the daily reporting from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

OSDH started reporting rapid antigen tests in their daily number releases last Tuesday, Septemeber 8.

Custer County is one of 13 counties which has had no deaths. Washita County also has had no deaths related or caused by COVID-19.

Of those 77 active cases, Weatherford has 35 active cases. Clinton has 36 active cases. Thomas has five active cases of COVID-19 and Butler has one active case.

There are 27 active cases of COVID-19 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on the Weatherford and Sayre campuses.

Twenty-Two of those known active cases are students at the Weatherford campus. Two of those known Active cases are students at the Sayre campus. Three of those known active cases are employees for the Weatherford and Sayre campuses.

SWOSU said not all cases are on campus or in Weatherford or Sayre. Once a student or employee is identified as an active case, campus officials follow CDC and university protocol in advising the student or employee to isolate for the recommended number of days.

Washita County has seven active cases of COVID-19. Corn and Cordell each have two active cases of COVID-19. Canute and Foss each have an active case. The other active case is in Washita County is not listed in Washita County.

The entire state of Oklahoma has 10,409 active cases of COVID-19.
