An Elk City man has been charged with burglary in the second degree, tampering with a security system, and knowingly receiving or concealing property which was stolen.

In a second case he has been charged with burglary in the second degree, and knowingly receiving or concealing property which was stolen, according to court records.

On November 28 Captain Jeff Maynard of The Custer County Sheriff’s office took a burglary report at the Co-Op in Butler, according to court records.

The video showed only a partial view of what was believed to be the suspect. The cameras were later unplugged, according to an affidavit released by Custer County District Court. Pfeil allegedly used a butane torch to melt through the Plexiglas window of a garage door at the tire shop. A can of Chemtool B-12 was taken along with gas out of the tank of a truck in another building. Several other items were stolen as well, according to court records.

The gas tank of the truck had been punctured on the bottom and had a hose inserted into the hole in order to drain the fuel. Maynard received footage from a video camera across the street. When Maynard reviewed the video footage from the night of the incident, he saw a white SUV drive to the coop and leave about 2 hours later, according to court records.

In a separate case November 26 near Elk City but located in Custer County an unknown person broke into a residence by prying a garage door open. The victim told Maynard his four-seat side by side UTV had been taken out of the garage and driven down to a creek and left unattended, according to the affidavit.

November 30 the victim contacted police and said he was also missing a pair of 3 foot red bolt cutters, according to court records.

A patrolling officer from Weatherford Police Department later identified the white SUV and contacted Maynard. Pfeil was allegedly the driver of the SUV. The vehicle had later been identified as a reported stolen vehicle out of Clinton. WPD did a consensual search of the vehicle which had a lot of property inside, according to the affidavit.

Pfeil had been arrested and transported to Custer County Jail. Maynard later had a search warrant signed and executed. Several items were found in the vehicle, along with the missing bolt cutters. The victim later identified his bolt cutters. The victim of the Butler Co-Op incident later identified items such as a separate pair of bolt cutters, and several tools, according to the affidavit.

Pfeil has faced similar charges in Custer County in past cases. Pfeil will appear for a preliminary hearing conference January 8.
