Elizabeth Amen said she demonstrates God’s love by showing her daughters the beauty of His grace and goodness of His heart.

Amen recruited her daughter, as she said “again,” to help her with her latest endeavor of love-feeding families.

Amen was contacted by her niece with Oneighty Ministries in Tulsa to see if Weatherford could benefit from the Farmers to Families Food Box Program offered by President Trump’s administration during the pandemic crisis.

The ministry was assigned distribution duties to get the food into Oklahoma families. Amen was up for the challenge.

“I don’t know how we can make this happen, but I do not ask questions of God, I just respond,” Amen said.

Amen put a plan of action in place where Western Oklahoma families would receive around 700 boxes of fresh produce and vegetables and gallons of fresh milk. With attention to every detail Amen, with her daughters and husband at her side, moved forward to help make it happen.

“I wondered if we would have enough volunteers, I wondered if we could give out all the food, I wondered how we would get the food off the truck… all the details,” Amen said.

7 a.m. Thursday came, Amen was at the school with her family putting up cones, mapping out car flow, synchronizing traffic control and determining locations of stations to put food into cars.

8 a.m. came and 100 volunteers showed up, put masks and gloves, unloaded the truck, set up stations and began a synchronized, flawless distribution to more than 600 families. Volunteers sang songs, clapped, laughed and thanked, profusely, the people who drove up to accept boxes of food and milk.

“Yes, we thanked them,” Amen said, “If they hadn’t showed up I would have had 1,500 gallons of milk sitting on the sidewalk in the sun with nowhere to go.

“It worked beautifully. Everyone was super and appreciative. I knew God had a plan, I only worry because I am human.” And, she said, “by the way, we just got approved for nine more truckloads to arrive every Thursday. So, all volunteers need to get on board and get ready to have fun again next week.”

“This is how we share the love and generosity of God. This is how we can share in the joy of the life He makes possible,” Amen said.
