During a Weatherford Regional Hospital Board Authority meeting members of the board voted unanimously to accept the offer from the city to sell the old hospital building, there was no further discussion for the topic during this meeting.

The Weatherford Regional Hospital, Inc., board also unanimously approved the offer from the city.

“The City of Weatherford wants to have this property, and the board wants the city to have it. The board works on what’s best for the hospital organization in Weatherford, accepting this offer is us, as an organization, being loyal to our city,” Brad Berrong, Secretary of the Weatherford Regional Hospital, Inc., board said.

The contract must be accepted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) before the deal is official.

The offer made by the city was for $75,000, if the hospital is officially accepted by the USDA the city plans to have the building demolished.

“The building will have to be demolished along with removing asbestos. We plan to get bids soon after the purchase of the property. About $8.3 million was in the Yes Weatherford budget for the police station,” Mayor Mike Brown said.
