Hydro-Eakly splits games at Lookeba-Sickles

SICKLES — The Hydro-Eakly Lady Bobcats split a pair of games Monday, beating Hollis 11-1 and losing to Lookeba-Sickles 9-5.

Both games were played at Lookeba-Sickles High School.

Hydro-Eakly 11, Hollis 1

Hydro scored early and often against Hollis in the first game for the Lady Bobcats.

The game was called after 4 innings due to run rule.

Hydro scored 6 runs in the top of the first. Lotti Parker and Kenzie Rodriquez both hit bunt-singles to lead off the inning. Parker scored as Rees Berkey singled to center field. Both Rodriquez and Berkey scored when Tessa York reached base on an error. I was 3-0 Lady Bobcats.

York scored on an error before Macey Buss walked. Buss scored on a sacrifice ground out by 1. Casady Sublett reached base on an error before Jaysa Slagell doubled to left field. Sublett scored on a sacrifice bunt by Katey Buss and it was 6-0 Hydro.

In the top of the second, the Lady Bobcats added 4 runs. Rees Berkey tripled to lead off the inning. She scored on a passed ball before York walked. Macey Buss singled to right field. Then, Kira Berkey hit an inside-the-park home run, where both York and Macey Buss also scored. Hydro was up 10-0.

Hollis’ run was scored in the bottom of the second on an error.

The Lady Bobcats added a run in the top of the third. Parker reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Two batters later, Rees Berkey reached base on an error. Parker scored in the next at bat as York reached base on an error. It was 11-1 Lady Bobcats.

Lookeba-Sickles 9, Hydro-Eakly 5

Against Lookeba-Sickles, Hydro has an early lead, but Lookeba scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game.

Hydro was ahead early, as the Lady Bobcats scored 2 runs in the top of the first. Parker led off the game with a single. She scored two batters later as Rees Berkey tripled to center field. Rees Berkey scored when York hit a sacrifice fly ball out. It was 2-0 Lady Bobcats.

Lookeba scored a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single to make the score 2-1.

Hydro added a run in the top of the third. Rees Berkey hit a 2-out single to center field and York hit a single to center field. Rees Berkey scored when Macey Buss singled to right field and Hydro was ahead 3-1.

The score stayed that way until the bottom of the fourth when Lookeba scored 5 runs, with two coming on an error, one on an RBI single and two more on errors. It was 6-3 Lookeba.

Hydro cut the lead to 1 run in the top of the fifth. Rodriquez led off the inning with a single. She scored two batters later as York doubled to center field. Macey Buss reached base on an error to put two on with 1 out. York scored on a sacrifice ground ball out by 1 and Lookeba was up 6-5.

Lookeba then scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away. Those runs were scored with back-to-back bases-loaded walks and an error. That made the score 9-5.
