Lady Bobcats finish week 3-2

Hydro-Eakly finished the week 3-2, after going 2-2 at Arapaho-Butler’s tournament at 2-2 and winning at Seiling.

The Lady Bobcats beat Seiling 8-7, lost to Mooreland 5- 4, beat Merritt 5-3 and lost to Canute 5-4 in the tournament The last loss knocked them out of the tournament.

Hydro-Eakly 8, Seiling 7

The opening game of the tournament saw a familiar foe for Hydro-Eakly, who had just beaten Seiling 2 days earlier.

Hydro was in control early. In the bottom of the first, Macey Buss led off the inning with a single to center field. two batters later, she scored when Rees Berkey singled to right field. Tessa York reached base on an error before Berkey scored in the next at bat as Lotti Parker hit a sacrifice ground out. Hydro was up 2-0.

In the bottom of the second, the Lady Bobcats added a run. Kenzie Rodriquez reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Three batters later, she scored when Buss doubled to left field. Hydro was ahead 3-0.

Seiling tied the game, 3-3. in the top of the fourth on a 2-RBI double and a sacrifice ground out.

Hydro scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. Rodriquez was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Two batters later, she scored on a single by Katey Buss.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hydro added another run. Rees Berkey led off the inning with a triple to left field. Two batters later, she scored when Parker singled to right field. It was 5-3 Lady Bobcats.

Seiling grabbed the lead for the first time, scoring 4 runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI single and a 3-run home run. Seiling was ahead 7-5.

In the bottom of the sixth, Hydro rallied for 3 runs. Katey Buss singled to left field to lead off the inning. Macey Buss singled to left field. Two batters later, Rees Berkey drew a walk to load the bases with 1 out.

Katey Buss scored in the next at bat as York reached base on an error. Macey Buss scored to tie the game, 7-7, as Parker hit into a fielder’s choice. No one was out on the play.

Cassady Sublett got the winning hit when she singled to left field and Rees Berkey scored, giving Hydro the 8-7 victory.

Mooreland 5, Hydro-Eakly 4

In the second game of the tournament, Hydro-Eakly wasn’t so lucky, dropping the game to Mooreland 5-4.

Neither team scored until the seventh inning, forcing the game into extra innings, where Mooreland won it in nine.

Hydro scored 3-runs in the top of the seventh. Macey Buss reached base on an error with 1 out. Jaysa Slagell scored as Kira Berkey hit a sacrifice fly ball out. Rees Berkey singled to center field and Macey Buss scored. Rees Berkey scored as York reached base on an error. It was 3-0 Hydro.

Mooreland scored on a 3-run home run to tie the game, 3-3, and force extra inning.

Neither team scored in the eighth before Hydro scored a run in the top of the ninth. Rodriquez scored as Katey Buss reached base on an error. It was 4-3 Hydro.

Mooreland ended the game in walk-off style, scoring 2 runs on two RBI singles.

Merritt 5, Hydro-Eakly 3

Against Merritt, Hydro got the early lead and held off a late-inning rally.

In the bottom of the second, Hydro scored 2 runs. Parker led off the inning reaching base on an error. She scored on a passed ball before Sublett singled. Sublett scored in the next at bat as Rodriquez reached base on an error. It was 2-0 Hydro.

Merritt scored its first run in the top of the third on an RBI triple to make it 2-1 Lady Bobcats.

Hydro added 2 runs in the bottom of the third. Macey Buss hit a single to left field to lead off the inning. Kira Berkey reached base on an error. Macey Buss scored two batter later as York hit a sacrifice fly ball out. Kira Berkey scored as Parker reached base on an error. It was 4-1 Hydro.

In the bottom of the fourth, Rodriquez hit a double to left field. She scored in the next at bat on a passed ball. Hydro was ahead 5-1.

Merritt tried to rally in the top of the fifth, scoring 2 runs on a sacrifice ground out and a steal of home to make the final score 5-3.

Canute 5, Hydro-Eakly 4

Unlike Merritt, who wasn’t able to rally, Canute was able to rally, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the game, 5-4.

Early on, Hydro was ahead. The Lady Bobcats scored 2 runs in the top of the first. Macey Buss led off the game with a single to center field. She scored as Kira Berkey tripled. Kira Berkey scored on a passed ball before Rees Berkey walked. It was 2-0 early on.

Canute cut the lead in half, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly ball out. It was 2-1.

Hydro added 2 runs in the top of the second. Rodriquez singled and Slagell reached base on an error. Rodriquez scored in two batters later, when Katey Buss reached base on an error. Two batters later, Slagell scored on a passed ball. It was 4-1 Hydro.

Canute cut the lead to 1 run in the bottom of the third on a 2-RBI double. It was 4-3 Lady Bobcats.

Canute won the game in the bottom of the fifth on a 2- RBI double, making it 5-4 Canute.

Hydro-Eakly 8, Seiling 0

Last Tuesday, Hydro-Eakly traveled to Seiling, run-ruling them 8-0 in 5 innings.

Hydro scored two runs in the top of the first. Seiling made an error off a Kira Berkey bunt and Macey Buss scored. Rees Berkey hit a ground ball and was thrown out, but Kira Berkey scored on the play.

The Lady Bobcats scored a run in the top of the second as Rodriquez hit a double and Casady Sublett scored.

Hydro-Eakly took control of the game in the top of the third inning, as they scored 5 runs. York hit a double and Rees Berkey scored. Seiling got two outs, but Hydro took advantage of errors Seiling made. Sublett hit a ground ball, but reached first base off a Seiling error and York scored.

Jaysa Slagel reached first base off another error and Rodriquez scored. On the next play, Sublett was at third base and scored off a passed ball as she stole home. Katey Buss hit a ground ball and was safe because if another Seiling error and Slagel scored as a result.

No more runs were scored and Hydro-Eakly shut out Seiling 8-0 in five innings.
