Corn Heritage Village and Rehab (CHVR) residents and staff in Weatherford will receive the COVID-19 vaccine today, according to CHVR Administrative Director Sheriff Raji.

Residents and staff at CHVR located in Corn received the COVID-19 vaccine last week.

“Our staff and residents in Corn received the COVID-19 vaccine. We are very blessed and very fortunate to have this opportunity. The Weatherford location will receive the vaccine tomorrow,” Raji said.

The COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan in Custer County is currently in phase 2. Individuals 65 and older are the current phase groups receiving COVID-19 vaccines.

The local health department for Custer County plans to have vaccines available 4 p.m. every Monday at the Clinton Fairgrounds.

Appointments are required in order to receive a vaccine. The only phase groups which currently are able to receive the vaccine are the 65 and older age group and phase 1 and phase 2 groups prior to the current distribution status, according to Local Emergency Response Coordinator Sandy Settle.

During a conference Monday, Deputy Health Commissioner Keith Reed announced the agency soon would have an app for people to apply for a vaccine. Reed said the app will launch as soon as Thursday and will provide an application along with nearby clinics which are distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.

The health department has set up 40 pods across the state this week.

“The pods are groups from local health departments which will speed up distribution in local areas. The pods plan is set up in an open location in order to vaccine more individuals,” Health
