ARAPAHO — The husband of a 45-year-old Custer County woman who was brutally murdered in front of her two minor children last year plead guilty to first-degree murder.

Brandon Benevento, 40, plead guilty yesterday in the District Court of Custer County to the murder of his exwife Heather Park. Benevento received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Saturday, April 20, 2019, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assistance with a homicide that occurred in the 100 block of South 10th Street in Arapaho. At 6:30 p.m., the Arapaho Police Department and the Custer County Sheriff’s Department answered a shots fired call at the convenience store where Benevento and Park were supposed to be doing a custody exchange.

Upon arrival, officers found Park in her vehicle shot multiple times. Park was transported to the Clinton Hospital, and later flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she died from her injuries.

That same evening, Benevento was taken into custody and charged with Park’s murder.

The OSBI would like to thank the Custer County Sheriff’s Department, the Arapaho Police Department, the Clinton Police Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for their assistance with this investigation.
