To meditate bas ically means to "think upon" to chew on-much as a cow chews her cud.

Some have found the following two ways to be helpful.

1 - Take a verse of Scripture and slowly think it through, word for word, phrase by phrase. Turn it over in your mind and think of its different applications. Then, say the verse, emphasizing a different word each time.

Example: I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength . I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength and so forth.

2 - Personalize, paraphrase, and pray back to God.

Take the verse and make it personal. Put your name or first person pronoun in the verse. Then, take it apart and put it in your own words, retaining the central ideas but in your words.

Finally, write out a prayer to God using the ideas of the verse.

Example: My God shall meet every need of yours according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:19

Personalize. "The God that I serve will meet my emotional needs, my physical needs, and my spiritual needs . He will do this because of all the riches he has given me in Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Lord, I claim this promise that you both know my needs and you are powerful to provide. I rest in that promise.! give up anxiety, fear, and worry and trust you to provide.
