The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) has been struggling to get together through the COVID 19 pandemic.

The program hosted a drive-thru event Thursday to give out goody bags to the senior volunteers. Usually at this time of the year, the volunteers get together for a banquet, but most of the volunteers are at high risk due to their age.

“It’s good to encourage the volunteers to do other things like send cards, call people, responding to disasters by donations, and blood drives, all of those are so important.” director of RSVP Jan Franks said.

Certificates of appreciation were handed out during the drive-thru event with the goody bags.

“We’ve got to continue on during a pandemic and these people certainly have,” Franks said when talking about the success of the volunteers.

Mayor Mike Brown attended the drive-thru event along with fire chief Mike Karlin and fellow firefighters.
