The Weatherford Daily News spoke with Police Chief Louis Flowers about the new police station /911 center.

“It’s going to be an amazing facility,” Flowers said. “It’s a great centralized location and the mayor has always wanted to have a public safety campus. With the help of the great citizens of Weatherford, which I cannot thank enough, we are able to have a new police station and 911 center.”

Flowers said the department plans t make the 911 center a 911 hub cente for Western Oklahoma.

“Right now the police department houses the 911 center,” Flowers said “We serve all of Blaine County for fire and EMS. We also service Cadd County, Washita County and some parts of Dewey County. We have expanded our 911 center and we are out of room. Because of the citizens passing the Yes Weatherford tax we are now going to be able to have twice the space for the 911 center and we will have more room to grow. We have set a higher standard for all 911 centers. We are going to hopefully become the 911 hub center for Western Oklahoma. It’s a blessing to be in Weatherford and it’s a blessing to have all of the support we have in Weatherford.”

Flowers said the location of the new station will offer quicker response times.

“The centralized location is not far from our current police department, but we will be able to respond a little quicker to the area. Also, if people have questions and don’t know which department to ask, we are all in a central location to send individuals to the right department,” Flowers said.
