Fire Notes January 11

January 11

The Weatherford Fire Department responded to a call for a lift assist. Upon arrival, the patient was sitting in the hallway and stated they were not injured. WFD assisted the patients to their bed. The patient did not wish to have any other treatment or transport. WFD then gathered patient information before returning to service.

The Weatherford Fire Department responded to a call for a dog bite. Upon arrival, the patient told EMS they wanted to get checked out at the hospital. WFD made no patient contact and returned to service.

The Weatherford Fire Department to a call for a patient with difficulty breathing. Upon arrival, the patient was sitting on the couch and said they had been having trouble breathing. WFD assisted the patient onto the cot before loading her into the ambulance. WFD than followed the ambulance to the hospital where they assisted unloading the patient and transferring them to a hospital bed before gathering information and returning to service.

January 16

The Weatherford Fire Department responded to a call regarding some young children throwing dirt on a small brush fire. Upon arrival, the fire was out and there was a small area burned in the grass. WFD was stopped by a pickup and informed the children had lit a small grass fire and put it out. WFD was advised their assistance was not needed and returned to service.

Monday

The Weatherford Fire Department was dispatched to assist with a patient who had fallen and had a head injury. Upon arrival, WFD found the patient lying in their bed. Staff on scene informed WFD they patient had fallen, scraped their left leg and received a small cut on the side of their face. WFD assisted Lifeguard with loading the patient and getting them hooked up to the monitor to obtain vital signs. Once the patient was loaded into the ambulance and en route to the hospital, Lifeguard released WFD from the scene.

The Weatherford Fire Department was dispatched to assist with a person who had fallen and hurt their back on a hoe blade. Upon arrival, WFD found someone lying on the ground next to a road grader. The patient informed WFD he was working on the road graders tire right next to the blade when he fell on top of it. WFD then requested Air Evac. They placed a C-collar on the patient’s neck to help stabilize his head and neck area. Once Lifeguard arrived on scene, WFD assisted with placing the patient onto a long spine board. Once the patient was secured, they were loaded into the ambulance and hooked up to the monitor for further treatment and transportation to the helipad. WFD followed Lifeguard to the helipad and assisted EMS in loading the patient on the helicopter. WFD then was released from scene and returned to service.

Wednesday

The Weatherford Fire Department was dispatched to assist with a smoke detector which was going off, but there was no smoke or fire. Upon arrival, WFD made contact with the reporting party, and they told WFD their smoke detector was beeping and had been for a while. We found no sign of smoke or fire. The reporting party said they had changed to battery, but it still was beeping. WFD gave the person a new one and installed it for them. WFD then went back into service.
