Public hearing for annexation set for Tuesday

The Weatherford City Commission will meet 8 a.m. Tuesday for its June meeting.

Before the commission opens the meeting, a public hearing, which will begin 8 a.m. Immediately after, the meeting will begin.

The agenda includes several items, including a possible annexation and bids for Lyle Road.

Before moving on to the regular agenda, the commission will recognize Robert Rivera for reaching 5 years of employment with the city.

After the consent agenda is presented and voted on, the commission will consider an ordinance recommended by the Planning and Zoning Board to amend changes to city code regarding the sizes of parking spaces, including an emergency clause, so it takes effect immediately after publication.

The commission will consider a recommendation from the Hotel/Motel Tax Committee to approve a grant for the Weatherford sports and recreation for softball and baseball tournaments in the amount of $10,000.

The commission will consider an agreement between the city and the Great Plains Family YMCA for daily operations of the municipal swimming pool and splash pad for the 2020 season. The commission will consider an agreement between the city and Weatherford Public Schools for use of city-owned facilities by WPS for the 2020-21 academic year.

The commission will consider reappointing three members — Garla Wisdom, Helen Barnes and Jane Long — to the Weatherford Public Library Local Advisory Board.

The commission will consider declaring a 2004 Ford Econoline form the Pioneer Center as surplus property.

The commission will consider an annexation of property east of Miraclon, which includes new construction by B.G. Biscoe, as well as an emergency so it takes effect immediately after publication.

The commission will consider amending the Weatherford Fire Prevention Code, as well as an emergency so it takes effect immediately after publication.

The commission will consider property abatements for the following properties: 1805 Lark; Saber Industrial; 820 N. Indiana; 1110 N. Bradley; 423 E. Franklin; 410 E. Franklin; 409 E. Rainey; 320 N. Kansas; and 320 W. Rainey.

The commission will consider a resolution supporting the City of Weatherford’s application for a grant from Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority.

The commission will consider a resolution to cancel the City of Weatherford election for City Commission originally scheduled for August 25.

Finally, the commission will consider bids for Lyle Road sanitary sewer line improvements.
