The Weatherford Public Schools Board of Education had a special meeting Thursday to discuss the bids for the Weatherford High School press box remodel, choosing Scott Selsor Construction’s bid of $46,300.

After reviewing both quotes, the board voted to approve the Scott Selsor Construction of Weatherford for the project, with timing being the biggest consideration during the discussion.

Superintendent Chad Wilson said he reached out to three companies for quotes on the project and received quotes from L5 Construction of Oklahoma City and Scott Selsor Construction.

Both quotes were less than $50,000, which means the district did not have to go through the public bidding process, according to Wilson.

Selsor Construction projected it could be done with the entire project by September 11, in time for the district’s first high school football game. However, it would have to be cordoned off for a junior high game and a couple of scrimmages.

L5’s projection was at least 8 weeks out before the project could be completed.

“I personally am for getting it done before football season begins because we don’t want contractors in there while we are playing games and have people coming in and out,” school board president Dennis Green said.

After a short discussion, the board unanimously approved the quote from Selsor.
