SWOSU Plans Hispanic Heritage Month Events

The Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) and SWOSU Student Affairs at Southwestern Oklahoma State University are planning several events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on the Weatherford campus. The public is invited.

Upcoming events are:

• September 17 WE ARE LÍDERES Night  – Zoom – 6 pm
Everyone is welcome to join virtually with renowned keynote speaker LTC. Consuelo Castillo for a discussion on Hispanic pride and being motivated to be change-makers in the world. Open to everyone. To get the zoom link, text @wearelid to 81010. 
• September 29 Hispanic Heritage Celebration – Student Union Ballroom – 5 pm
Come celebrate the rich culture and “raizes” of Hispanic culture. Featuring guest speakers Claudia Rivas-Taylor of OKC Gear Up and Angela Vivar, former Miss Latina Oklahoma. 
• October 8 Movie Night Student Union Lawn – 8 pm
The Hispanic American Leadership Organization in conjunction with ResLife invites everyone to a showing of award-winning animated movie “COCO”. Snacks will be provided. 
• October 15 Dia de los Muertos Paint Night – Wesley Foundation – 6 pm
Come join HALO to celebrate Dia de los Muertos and the end of Hispanic Heritage Month with a colorful paint night. HALO will provide paint and canvases.
