September 1, a man by the name of Victor William Morgan, Jr., allegedly attempted to rob Harvey Gregory Reed, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Both men were in the parking lot of the Relax Inn Hotel in Clinton. Morgan allegedly first walked up to Reed asking Reed what he said to him. Harvey allegedly told Reed he didn’t say anything, according to the affidavit.

Morgan then allegedly demanded Reed give him $20. Reed refused and Morgan allegedly grasped on to Reed in an aggressive manner. Reed then pulled his knife, according to the affidavit.

As the two began to scuffle, police were there to stop them almost immediately. Reed allegedly was told to drop his knife and he complied. EMS was called to the scene as both Reed and Morgan were injured — Reed with a busted lip and Morgan with lacerations along his left arm, according to the affidavit.

As police were detaining Morgan, they allegedly noticed a strong smell of alcohol. Morgan was sent to the hospital and later charged with robbery and public intoxication, according to the affidavit.
