On January 8, the Weatherford Police Department awarded Patrolman Kyle Ellerbeck, Patrolman Chaz Hickman and Detective Joseph Cox letters of commendation for their heroic actions handling a high priority call for service, during a standoff incident December 30.

The letter recognizes the officers for going above and beyond the call of duty and taking immediate action and calm control of the situation which prevented further threat to the safety of the citizens in the community.

“All of the officers involved remained calm and took immediate action for the safety of the suspect and the safety of the public. During the encounter our officers were able to keep everyone safe. The gentleman during the incident threatened our officers with a knife. All three officers used their training and it is truly an honor to be able to call them Weatherford Police Officers. As a chief I am very proud,” Weatherford Police Chief Louis Flowers said.
