Deanna Jo (Kauk) Harris, 75-year-old Weatherford resident, was called to her heavenly home November 11, 2020, with her husband and daughters by her side.

Services were 2 p.m. Monday November 16, 2020, at First Baptist Church, in Weatherford, with burial following at the German Reform Cemetery, in Butler.

She was born October 12, 1945, at Butler, and is one of three daughters born to Delbert Louis and Oleta Nadine (Haney) Kauk. Her early childhood was spent on the family farm southeast of Leedey and Deanna attended grade school and high school in the Leedey Public School System.

She continued her education by attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Her college summers were spent working at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Taloga, and the Library Service Center (book mobile) in Clinton, through the Western Plains Library Syste,. Her hard work and determination was rewarded when she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education.

Her teaching career spanned 28 years and touched the lives of many students. Her expertise in the language arts helped many students earn countless accolades and awards. She was tremendously loved and admired within her profession.

August 19, 1967 at Rhea Baptist Church, Rhea, Deanna was united in marriage to Donald Dean Harris. Two daughters, Dena Dawn and Dana Jo blessed their home. The family lived in various Oklahoma communities, calling Weatherford home since 2005.

Deanna was a faithful Christian. She was baptized at the age of 11 and remained in the Baptist faith her entire life. Throughout her years in the church, she served in various capacities to include vacation Bible school teacher, Sunday school teacher, and provided special baked goods whenever called upon.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Weatherford. She adored and was an integral part of “Juniors Seniors,” her Sunday school class family at FBC.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was her daughter’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan and encourager.

Her memory will be cherished and she will be sorely missed by: her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald Harris, of Weatherford; her daughters, Dena Dawn Bass and husband, Jy Max, of Weatherford, and Dana Jo Hise and husband, Landon, of Woodward; her grandchildren, Jacob Ryan and Summer Leigh Bass, and Ashli Dawn and Andon Wade Bradford and Landry Earl Hise; her sisters, Janet Elaine Switzer and husband, Gary, of Leedey, and Rhonda Jean Kauk, of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Deanna is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Oleta (Haney) Kauk, her paternal grandparents Christian Kauk and Magdalena (Trost) Kauk, and maternal grandparents A.E. Haney and Ruby (Eaton) Haney Basler, and one niece, Amy Lee (Switzer) Jones.
