January 12, 2021, our precious mom, Doris Reed Gray Johnson, 88 of Weatherford, was called home and into the arms of Jesus.

Doris will be honored at a memorial service 1 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Judah House of Praise, in Cordell.

She was born April 15, 1932, at Canton, to Charley O. Reed and Cleo Anna Garl Reed. Doris accepted the Lord at an early age and continued her close and sustaining relationship with Him throughout her life.

December 2, 1950, Doris married Lester “Les” Gray at Lawton. They were blessed with three children, Doris Anne, James ‘Jim” and Lisa. When Les returned from the army they moved to Thomas in 1958 where they raised their family.

Les Gray passed away December 9, 1977. Doris then relocated to Weatherford in 1978 where she had worked as a lab tech at 3-M for several years.

June 15, 1981, Doris married Earl Johnson of Hobart, and they resided there for 20 years before moving to Yukon. Earl passed away July 4, 2004. After suffering a stroke in 2013 Doris lived with her daughter, Doris Anne and husband Paul Gaines in Weatherford.

Doris took pride in everything she did. Her family was the joy of her life and serving God was always a priority. This carried over into her work whether it was digging sweet potatoes for Webb Barton, sewing bedspreads at Kelwood or working at 3-M.

Doris was a master seamstress and loved to quilt. She blessed not only her family but many others with handmade clothing sewn just for them as well as many beautiful quilts.

Another passion was her love of flowers. She could not wait for spring to arrive so she could pick out the prettiest flowers for her garden and spent hours tending them.

While attending classes at SWOSU, Doris discovered a love of writing and had several stories published in an SWOSU literature publication. She also enjoyed sharing stories and fellowshipping with others at the writing class held at the Pioneer Center.

While living in Hobart she took a painting class with a friend and explored another talent. Today her treasured paintings fill the home of her loved ones.

Known as a prayer warrior, Doris taught women’s Sunday school classes and held numerous Bible studies. Her love for the Lord was always evident and allowed her to be an inspiration to all who knew her.
