Funeral services for Eleanor Carol Powers, 85-year-old Weatherford resident, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020, in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Carol was born September 9, 1935, on a farm west of Clinton, to Luther and Vesta Vineyard and passed away October 24, 2020, at Weatherford Regional Hospital with her son by her side.

Her husband is in physical therapy rehab at this time. Carol attended grade school in a one-room school house at Parkersburg. While in fifth grade, they moved to Neptune Park and she attended Clinton Public Schools. The family then moved to a farm located between Hydro and Weatherford.

Carol graduated from Hydro High School in 1953. She attended Southwestern State College and graduated in 1957. After graduation, she was employed as a secretary to Dean Naylor at Southwestern State College. She later worked at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base.

Carol married Harold Doss Powers in 1961 in Weatherford.

Survivors include: her husband, Harold; a son, Zachary Doss Powers and wife, Rhonda; two grandsons, Gunner Powers and Cabbet Powers; a sister, Doylene Tompkins, her husband, David; a niece, Darla Knight, her husband, John, and two sons, Michael and Ryan Knight; a brother, Dale Vineyard, of Eakly; a nephew, Terry Vineyard and wife, Karin, and their children, Amy Askew, and her husband, Barry, and their three children; Sarah Wilson and her husband, Colton, and their children; and Mason Vineyard.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Vesta Vineyard; and her sister, Dorothy Vineyard Allen.

Carol will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
