The Weatherford Public Schools Board of Education approved a bid for the demolition on property located near Weatherford Middle School.

The two properties, 216 and 218 W. Arapaho Street, were purchased by the district earlier this year. When the school board authorized the purchase, former Superintendent Chad Wilson said the property may be used to expand parking at the middle school.

The board received two bids from Scott Selsor Construction and SPM Services. The board accepted the bid for $19,700 from Scott Selsor as it was the lower bid and the district has been satisfied with his past work.

The board also received the 2019-20 fiscal year audit report from Britton, Kuykendall & Miller. James Kuykendall said the audit went well overall with no major issues. The district is in excellent financial shape. However, it still is working on inventorying technical equipment, which is especially important for equipment purchased with grant money.

The board approved a memorandum of understanding with the City of Weatherford for a School Resource Officer, which currently is Det. Justin Bushong. This is the district’s second year with a school resource officer.

The board approved the formation of the 2020-21 Weatherford High School Prom Committee as well as an activity subaccount and subsequent fundraisers for the event. The board also approved the annual school election for board position No. 1, which currently is belongs to board Vice President Kim Ingram.

The board approved the regular board meeting calenda for 2021. The board will continue to meet on the second Monday of every month. The board also designated a treasurer to invest school funds, which is an item OSSBA recommends passing yearly.

The board approved 45 fund encumbrances totaling $374,557.38 — $19,021.48 in general fund encumbrances, $125,010.90 in building fund encumbrances and $230,525 in child nutrition fund encumbrances.

The board approved change orders, athletic surplus, a sick leave sharing request and the activity fund custodian’s report. The board approved fundraisers for the Wrestling team and Class of 2021. The board acknowledged the resignation of a West Elementary Teacher Assistant.

The board approved the non-athletic extra duty list and the hiring of:

• Paige Sampley — Burcham Elementary Paraprofessional

• Whitini Drouhard — West Elementary Teaching Assistant
