Weatherford pitcher keeps Anadarko off scoreboard

Weatherford’s 3 hits were enough to piece together a 3-0 win against Anadarko Monday.

Anadarko got 5 hits, but Weatherford pitcher Meliah Brown didn’t give up any runs, pitching a 7-inning shutout. She struck out five in the game and walked one.

Weatherford’s offense did what it needed to in the game to get the win.

The Lady Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the third. Vanessa Davis got things going, reaching base on an error. Hayden Warren came in to pinch run for Davis. Warren scored in the next at bat as Brown singled to left field. Weatherford was ahead 1-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Weatherford added 2 runs. Abbie Moses reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Lily Brown, pinch-running for Moses, scored as Cydnee Henderson doubled to right field. Henderson scored when Davis singled to right field. The Lady Eagles had a 3-0 lead.

Meliah Brown, Henderson and Davis each finished the game with an RBI. Henderson, Lily Brown and Warren each scored runs.

With the win, Weatherford improved to 9-1 in district. The Lady Eagles trailed Tuttle by a game and a half headed into their showdown at Tuttle Tuesday.
