Cache tops Weatherford 5-2 in district play

Cache took the lead early and didn’t let it go Thursday against Weatherford, beating the Lady Eagles 5-2.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to Tuttle Saturday, so both Weatherford and Cache have 3 losses in district play on the season.

Cache scored 2 runs in the top of the first on a 2-RBI double. It was 2-0 Cache.

Cache added a run in the top of the third, scoring on an error to go ahead 3-0.

The Lady Bulldogs added 2 runs in the top of the fifth on back-to-back RBI doubles. It was 5-0 Cache.

Weatherford got on the board, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Kennedy Stewart scored the first run, hitting a solo home run over the wall in center field. it was 5-1 Cache.

Two batters later, Vanessa Davis reached base on an error. Megan Mills then singled to center field. Meliah Brown singled to load the bases with 1 out. Davis scored after tagging up as Camry Teasley hit a sacrifice fly ball out to center field. Cache had the 5-2 lead.

The loss dropped Weatherford to 9-3 in district play. The Lady Eagles played at Clinton Monday and face Binger-Oney today, before traveling to Mount Saint Mary Thursday for the final district game.
