ENID — The Corn Bibl Academy Lady Crusaders volleyball team was challenged Tuesday night against Oklahoma Bible Academy and lost 3-0.

“We played competitively, but were unable to convert defense into offense,” coach Erin Basinger said. “I was proud of the way we made them work for their points, so the game felt more competitive than it looks by the scores.”

Each team went toe-to-toe in the first set, but Oklahoma Bible won it 25-20. Corn Bible struggled in the second set, losing 25-13. In the third set, Oklahoma Bible was the better team that night as they won 25-15. Even though Corn Bible lost, Basinger said she liked to play teams who are good and better than Corn Bible.

“I always try to schedule some teams who are better than us so we have opportunities to learn from them,” Basinger said. “We also need to be challenged in order to have the motivation to work hard and improve. Teams like Oklahoma Bible and Cache have shown us we need to improve on our serve and receiving and passing accuracy if we want to be able to hit the ball.”

Baginser said the offense needs to improve before the postseason.

“We know we cannot beat teams like that withou running an offense,” Basinger said. “As we look forward to the postseason, we now have an idea of the level of play it will take to have success at regionals and the state tournament.”
