Lady Bobcats open season with win

HYDRO — Hydro-Eakly’s bats came alive Monday as the Lady Bobcats beat Carnegie 10- 0 to open the 2020 fast-pitch season.

Hydro scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first to get things started.

Kira Berkey hit a 1-out double to get things going. She scored in the next at bat as Rees Berkey tripled to center field. Rees Berkey scored in the next at bat as Tessa York singled to left field, making the score 2-0 Hydro. Jaysa Slagell came in to pinch-run for York and scored as Lotti Parker singled to center field. Parker scored in the next at bat as Casady Sublett reached base on an error. Sublett scored on a passed ball and it was 5-0 Hydro.

In the bottom of the second, Hydro added 4 runs. Katey Buss reached base on a dropped third strike. Macey Buss walked and Kira Berkey singled to load the bases with no one out. Katey Buss scored on a sacrifice fly by Rees Berkey. Buss and Kira Berkey both scored on a 3-run home run by York over the wall in left field. It was 9-0 Hydro.

The final run came in the bottom of the third, which ended the game.

Macey Buss hit a 2-out single to right field. She scored when Kira Berkey reached base on an error, making it 10-0. The game was called due to run rule.
