Lady Terriers finish 1-2 at Fairview tournament

FAIRVIEW — Thomas-Fay-Custer traveled to Fairview Saturday for an abridged tournament and finished 1-2.

Those game included an opening tournament victory against Kremlin-Hillsdale, 12-10, a 15-5 loss to Crescent and a 7-2 loss to Watonga.

Thomas-Fay-Custer 12, Kremlin-Hillsdale 10

Against Kremlin-Hillsdale, Thomas was able to get a big lead early before a near-rally.

Thomas scored 5 runs in the top of the first. Olivia Hampton led off the game with a walk. Three batters later, Abby Payne singled. Hampton scored when Jerneigh Roberts singled and it was 1-0 Lady Terriers.

Kaylee Yoder walked to load the bases with 2 outs. Sydney Hampton singled and Payne scored. Then Berekely Wright singled and Roberts scored to make it 3-0.

AnnMarie Cometsevah singled and Yoder scored. Addison Koontz walked and Sydney Hampton scored. Thomas was up 5-0.

Kremlin-Hillsdale scored a run in the bottom of the first on a steal of home. This made the score 5-1 Thomas.

In the bottom of the third, Kremlin-Hillsdale tied the game, 5-5, on an RBI single and a 2-RBI single.

The Lady Terriers responded with 7 runs in the top of the fourth. Payne led off the inning with a walk. Roberts doubled to right field and Payne scored. After a Yoder single to put runners on the corners, Wright doubled and Roberts scored. It was 7-5 Thomas.

Cometsevah singled and Yoder scored. Sydney Hampton singled and Wright scored. Koontz drew a walk and the bases were loaded with no one out. Two batters later, Koontz scored on a steal of home. It was 10-5.

Payne singled to center field and Olivia Hampton scored. Then Roberts singled to left field. Kaylen Jones scored on a steal of home. Jones had singled earlier in the inning when Koontz stole home. Thomas was ahead 12-5.

Kremlin-Hillsdale added 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth on an error, a bases loaded walk, at sacrifice ground out, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI single, making the score 12-10.

Crescent 15, Thomas-Fay-Custer 5

Thomas had a brief lead in the game early, but Crescent had two 6-run innings to put the game away, 15-5.

Crescent opened their half of the first inning scoring 3 runs on an error, an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to take the early 3-0 lead.

Thomas responded with 4 runs in the top of the second. Wright was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Katelyn Jones singled. Wright scored on an error before Katelyn Jones scored as Olivia Hampton singled to center field. it was 3-2 Crescent.

Olivia Hampton scored to tie the game as Kaylen Jones singled to left. Payne singled to put two on. Kaylen Jones then scored as Roberts reached base on an error and Thomas had the 4-3 lead.

Crescent responded with 6 runs in the bottom of the second on an RBI single, a bases-loaded walk, a 2-RBI single, a bases-loaded walk and RBI single. It was 9-4 Crescent.

Crescent scored 6 runs in the bottom of the third on back-to-back RBI singles, at 3-RBI double and an RBI double. It was 15-4 Crescent.

Thomas tried to rally in the top of the fourth. Katelyn Jones reached base on an error to lead off the inning. Three batters later, she scored as Payne reached base on an error, making the score 15-5.

Watonga 7, Thomas-Fay-Custer 2

Watonga didn’t trail in this game, scoring 7 runs in the first 3 innings.

Thomas tried to rally late, but Watonga picked up the 7-2 win.

In the bottom of the first, Watonga scored 4 runs on an error, and 3 runs an error. It was 4-0.

In the bottom of the second, Watonga added a run on an RBI double to make it 5-0.

Watonga scored 2 runs in the bottom of the third on an error and a passed ball to lead 7-0.

Thomas responded with a run in the top of the fourth. Olivia Hampton and Kaylen Jones each walked to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Olivia Hampton scored on a Yoder single to left field. it was 7-1.

In the top of the sixth, Thomas added a run. Roberts hit a 1-out double to center field. She scored when Yoder singled to right field, making the score 7-2.
