The Thomas Terriers are coming back almost as strong on offense as they were last year.

The Terriers biggest loss was starting quarterback Dylan Castillo.

“Although it’s a big position to fill I feel like Jaxon Ward will fill those shoes pretty well,” coach Bob Ward said.

With Ethan Hamberlin in the backfield and Aden Kelly at right tackle, Kelly just committed to play at Oklahoma State University, the Terrier run game will be strong, Ward said.

“I thought we threw it around pretty nice. It was a typical first scrimmage in the sense we missed a lot of tackles and we had some busts on the line, but that’s pretty typical this time of year,” Ward said after Thomas’s first scrimmage at Hobart on Friday night.

“We need to get a little tougher on defense we got to get a little more coachable on defense as well. So hopefully we can get that done and have a successful year,” Ward said when asked about this year’s defense.

The Terriers’ first game is 7 p.m. Friday at Watonga.
