Wednesday afternoon, the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association, (OSSAA) postponed the State Cross Country meet at Edmond Santa Fe High School, which was scheduled for Saturday, October 31, has been moved to Wednesday, November 4, due to all the recent ice and snow storms.

“There are pros and cons to running Wednesday, but I think this will benefit us,” coach Kaleb Fischer said. “We are ready to run Saturday, but the course will be in a lot better shape. If we were to run Saturday, the course would be wet and some slick spots which could increase the risk of an injury or a runner falling. The cons are us having to wait until Wednesday, but running Wednesday is safer and the course will be in much better shape.”

Fischer said the teams have been practicing this week, despite the snow storms and not having school.

“We have been practicing all week and ran in the gym,” Fischer said. “We even ran in the dark some and next Monday and Tuesday, we will just have a light run and we should be good to run Wednesday.”

The Weatherford girl’s race is 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and the boys race is 11:50 a.m. Wednesday. An awards ceremony follows 12:30 p.m.
