RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas — The defending Great American Conference Champion SWOSU soccer team has been picked to finish second in the league during the upcoming 2021 spring season.

The preseason coaches poll was announced this week by the conference office.

Oklahoma Baptist is the preseason favorite in the GAC, earning three first-place votes and finishing one point ahead of the Bulldogs, who matched Ouachita with two first-place votes each. Harding is picked to finish fourth in the league while East Central, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene round out the poll.

SWOSU has won four GAC regular season crowns in the last eight seasons while adding four GAC Tournament Championships and the Bulldogs swept both titles during their last season in the fall of 2019.

Coach Mark Persson returns eight players who earned All-GAC recognition in 2019, including first teamers Claire Torry, Elizabeth Moreno and Kirstyn Dill and GAC Freshman of the Year Brenna McGuirk.

Bulldog Soccer opens their spring season at home on Saturday, February 13, against Oklahoma Christian.
