“Tonight is summed up in a couple simple words,” Thomas-Fay-Custer coach Bob Ward said.

“They whipped us. They were the better team. They outplayed us on offense, defense, and special teams, and that’s not good,” Ward said.

The Cashion Wildcats didn’t waste any time and threw a 20-yard pass into the end zone to put the Wildcats on top 7-0 with less than 9 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Wildcats defense forced the Terriers to turn the ball over on downs, which led to another touchdown pass for Cashion. The Wildcats were ahead 14-0 going into the second quarter.

The second quarter looked a little different for the Terriers. A touchdown pass from Jaxon Ward to Jaxon Mannering put Thomas on the board for the first time. The Terriers defense went on to shut down the Wildcats the rest of the quarter. Thomas was down 14-7 at halftime.

Thomas’s defense continued to do the same in the third quarter, shutting down the Wildcats offense and never allowed them to score. Cashion did the same and both teams never scored the remainder of the quarter.

The Wildcats went on to make several big plays on defense which led to two touchdowns. The Terriers couldn’t answer. The Wildcats picked up the 28-7 win against the Terriers.

“We both had opportunities to make plays,” Ward said. “They made more plays than us basically. There were balls where we both had our hands on it, but they came down with it. You tip your hat to them. They were the better team tonight, and they made more plays than us. We have to finish those plays. It’s pretty simple. We just have to get better,” Ward said.

The Terriers are back in action 7 p.m. Friday at home against Mooreland.
