Tickets will be limited for tournament

Weatherford Public Schools wants to remind everyone who is attending the Weatherford Classic basketball tournament, January 7-9 Oklahoma is still under an executive order put in place by Gov. Kevin Stitt which limits the number of spectators at their athletic events.

To comply with this mandate, Weatherford Public Schools has put the following procedures in place for admission to the tournament.

• 50 entrance tickets are being mailed to each visiting team to disperse amongst their fans as they choose.

• Weatherford fans will be given four entrance tickets per participant to be shared as they choose, this includes basketball players and cheerleaders.

• Entrance tickets will allow an individual to purchase entry into the tournament. They must give the ticket to the gate worker before being able to pay for entry. Season pass holders must have an entrance ticket as well.

• An entrance ticket works for one person, a parent with a child must have two entrance tickets.

• The district asks for unused tickets to be given back so they can be sold to others. These tickets will be made available at the gate.

• Weatherford fans may contact the high school office in advance to claim a ticket which has been turned in for reuse. These tickets are on a first come-first served basis and are limited to two per person.

• It is important for fans to understand they may not be allowed in the gym if they do not have an entrance ticket.

• A pink ticket gets one in Thursday, a white ticket gets one in Friday and a yellow ticket gets one in Saturday.

WPS wants to thank everyone for their support and understanding. The visiting teams include Altus, Clinton, Duncan, Guthrie, Elgin, John Marshall, Heritage Hall, Tuttle and Yukon.

There will be eight games played each day.

The schedule for the girls Thursday includes: 10 a.m. John Marshall v. Tuttle; 1 p.m. Altus v. Heritage Hall; 4 p.m. Duncan v. Clinton; and 7 p.m. Elgin v. Weatherford.

The schedule for the boys Thursday includes: 11:30 a.m. Guthrie v. John Marshall; 2:30 p.m. Altus v. Tuttle; 5:30 p.m. Yukon v. Elgin; and 8:30 p.m., Clinton vs Weatherford.

The schedule for the girls Friday includes the consolation semifinals, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The semifinals will be played, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday.

The schedule for the boys includes the consolation semifinals, 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The semifinals will be played, 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The girls seventh-place game is 10 a.m. Saturday. The consolation championship game is 1 p.m. The third-place game is 4 p.m. The championship game is 7 p.m.

The boys seventh-place game is 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The consolation championship game is 2:30 p.m. The third-place game is 5:30 p.m. The championship game is 8:30 p.m.
