The Thomas-Fay Custer Lady Terriers softball team is young, athletic and are ready for the season to begin.

Thomas opens up their season, 4:30 p.m. August 10 at home against Seiling. Despite being young, coach Lianna Mueller said they are not taking a break on scheduling tough games.

“Our schedule is a tough start,” Mueller said. “Starting with Seiling then going to the Hobart tournament is a tough start. The Hobart tournament always has really strong teams. We will have a good idea where we are at during our first week. I am a little worried because Kyla is still out from a shoulder injury. We will have a few girls have to step up and fill that role, but I know they can do it and if we can put the bat on the ball, we can be really good and hang with some teams.”

After the Hobart tournament, they play teams such as Sayre, Arapaho, Waynoka, Okeene, Calumet and Hydro-Eakly. Last season, the Lady Terriers lost to Arapaho and Hydro in the district tournament. Infielder Katelyn Jones said the tough games will help prepare them for the postseason.

“Tough competition calls for us to step up and play.” Jones said. “We know we can accomplish great things and we will have to be flexible at times.”
