Weatherford’s offense returns a roster which has lots of stellar athletes, but loses its quarterback as Jaxon Ratterree graduated last season.

This loss will affect the offense a little, but Weatherford has enough talent on offense and coach Reagan Roof said the offense made great plays in the scrimmages against Altus and Blanchard.

“The offense is looking pretty good,” Roof said. “We have lots of different players who can make plays and we are loaded with talent. We are going to spread the football around, just like we did in the scrimmages. It is early and we have not played in any games yet, but I feel good about the offense.”

Roof said senior quarterback Gunnar Gaunt will get the nod at quarterback this season and Gaunt is playing football for the first time in 2 years. “There are 10 other players on the field who work just as hard as I do,” Gaunt said. “The whole team works hard and I plan on guiding them. We plan on working hard week in and week out. It begins in practice and Kingfisher will be a tough test to begin the season this week.”

Weatherford played well on offense last season as the team averaged 29 points a game.

Senior left guard Tyler Jack Hoffman said he knows the expectations are high this season and they have to get better to meet those expectations.

“We played well during the scrimmages,” Hoffman said. “We have to work on a few things such as getting into better shape and knowing which blocks to perform, but other than that, we are excited and ready for the season to begin. We have high expectations this season and are excited we get the opportunity to meet those expectations.”
