KINGFISHER — The Weatherford Eagles girls cross country team finished in second place as a team with Jordan Hoffman winning the race and Kennadi Price claiming second place at the Kingfisher Invitational.

The team scored 56 points. Kingfisher won, scoring 44 points.

“I thought we struggled Saturday,” coach Kaleb Fischer said. “We looked tired and not mentally in the race. The course was in good shape. It was just a little long.”

Hoffman won the race with a time of 13:01.59 and 4 seconds behind her coming in second was Price with a time of 13:05.74.

Morgan Mouse finished 14th with a time of 14:28.18. Ana Arrieta finished 17th with a time of 14:22.34. Peyton Foster finished 41st with a time of 15:29.23. Brooklyn Floyd finished 47th with a time of 16:27.75. Ava Foster finished 50th with a time of 16:38.36. Payton Cole finished 89th with a time of 19:44.55.

“The girls are showing small improvements each week,” Fischer said. “It was just a rough day all around. There will be days where we do not run well and we need to be able to have a good turn around the next week and be better.”

Weatherford’s next meet is 8:30 a.m. Saturday September 12, at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, hosted by Oklahoma Baptist University.

“We want to run better than we did at Kingfisher,” Fischer said. “We want to just enjoy the course with no pressure since the state meet is not there this year.”
