Weatherford splits district games

Despite losing to District 4A-3 leader Tuttle Tuesday, Weatherford bounced back to beat Anadarko 6-0 Thursday.

The win improves Weatherford to 6-1 in district and 10-4 overall.

Weatherford 6, Anadarko 0

Meliah Brown pitched a complete game, 7 innings, and only gave up 2 hits, while walking one and striking out five.

Offensively, Weatherford scored a run in the top of the first. Camry Teasley drew a 1-out walk. Hunter Bayless singled to center field. Abbie Moses walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Megan Mills walked, which scored Teasley. It was 1-0 Lady Eagles.

Weatherford added 2 runs in the top of the fifth. Brown led off the inning with a double to center field. She scored in the next at bat as Teasley doubled to center field. Teasley scored as well, when Bayless hit a single to left field. Weatherford was ahead 3-0.

In the top of the sixth, the Lady Eagles added three more runs. Ember Hensley drew a 1-out walk. Two batters later, Brown walked. Then Teasley singled to left field and both Hensley and Brown scored. Teasley scored when Bayless tripled to right field. it was 6-0.

Teasley finished the game going 2-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Bayless finished 3-4 with 2 RBIs.

Tuttle 11, Weatherford 5

In a battle for first place in District 4A-3, Weatherford and Tuttle went to extra innings before the Lady Tigers won the game.

Tuttle scored 6 runs in the top of the ninth to put the game away.

Neither team cracked the scoreboard until the bottom of the third when Weatherford scored 3 runs. Brown singled to center field with 1 out. Teasley was hit by a pitch to put two on with 1 out. Two batters later, Moses walked to load the bases. Both Brown and Teasley scored as Kennedy Stewart singled to center field. Moses scored as Megan singled to left field. It was 3-0 Weatherford.

Tuttle scored 2 runs in the top of the fourth on a 2-RBI double. The score was 3-2 Weatherford.

Weatherford added a run in the bottom of the fourth. Brown hit a home run over the wall in center field and it was 4-2 Lady Eagles.

Tuttle took the lead in the top of the fifth. The first run came on an error, then Tuttle tied the game on a sacrifice fly ball out. The Lady Tigers took the lead on an RBI single. The score was 5-4 Tuttle.

In the bottom of the fifth, Weatherford tied the game, 5-5. Stewart drew a 2-out walk. She scored as Mills reached base on an error.

Neither team scored again until the top of the ninth, when Tuttle scored 6 runs, with two coming on an error, a 2-run home run, another error and an RBI single.

Weatherford had a chance in the bottom of the night, getting two runners on base, as Lily Brown and Meliah Brown both singled, but no one was able to score.
