Weatherford tops rival Clinton 10-0

Rivals met Monday on the softball field and Weatherford was able to pick up the victory, beating Clinton 10-0.

The victory gave Weatherford a 3-0 district record as well.

Starting pitcher Meliah Brown picked up the win, giving up only 2 hits, walking one and striking out seven.

Camry Teasley was the offensive star, hitting a home run and going 3-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Weatherford got things going in the bottom of the first, scoring 4 runs.

Brown led off the inning with a double to center field. She and Camry Teasley scored as Teasley hit a home run over the wall in center field, giving Weatherford the early 2-0 lead.

Autumn Phillips walked, then Abbie Moses and Hunter Bayless each singled to load the bases with no one out. Two batters later, Phillips scored when Dacey Morris hit into a fielder’s choice. Cydnee Henderson then singled to center field and Bayless scored to make it 4-0 Lady Eagles.

Weatherford added 2 runs in the bottom of the second. Teasley hit a 1-out single to right field. Phillips drew her second walk of the game to put two on with one out. Two batters later, both Teasley and Phillips scored when Bayless singled to center field. it was 6-0 Weatherford.

The Lady Eagles added a run in the bottom of the third. Kennedy Stewart hit a 2-out double to center field. Ember Hensley, who was pinchrunning for Stewart, scored when Brown doubled to center field. Weatherford was ahead 7-0.

The game was called due to run rule in the bottom of the fifth after Weatherford scored 3 runs. Henderson led off the inning with a single. Stewart reached base on an error. Brown walked to load the bases.

Teasley singled to center field and Henderson scored. That gave Teasley 3 RBIs on the day. She finished 3-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Two batters later, Brown scored on a passed ball before Moses walked. Teasley then scored when Bayless hit a sacrifice fly to center field, making the score 10-0.

With the win, Weatherford is 3-0 in district and 6-3 overall. They played at Cache Tuesday and host Elk City Thursday in two more district games.
