ELK CITY — Weatherford’s fast-pitch softball team improved to 7-1 in district play with a 6-3 win Monday at Elk City. The Lady Eagles opened the game scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning.

The winners of the Weatherford Daily News football contest for the first week were announced Tuesday. Lindsay Roof, of Weatherford, took first place, picking 20 of 23 games correctly.

Hydro-Eakly played two low-scoring games Tuesday, dropping the opener to Vici, 3-0, before bouncing back with a 2-1 win against Sterling. Vici 3, Hydro-Eakly 0 Vici’s pitcher, Jill Parry, pitched a 2-hit shutout in the first game Tuesday.

Terriers beat Alva 47-26

The Thomas Terriers opened up their 2020 football season with a 47-26 win against Alva on their new turf field Friday. Running back, Ethan Hamberlin, and quarterback, Jackson Ward, were the stars of the show.

Thomas-Fay-Custer split two games at home Thursday, losing to Calumet 10-0, then beating Waynoka 9-4. The Lady Terriers traveled to Geary Tuesday and dropped two games, losing to Fletcher, 3-2, and Geary, 5-2.

CBA splits volleyball games

After losing 3-0 last Monday to Weatherford, The Corn Bible Academy Lady Crusaders volleyball team won on senior night by beating Elgin 3-1 Tuesday, but lost 3-0 to Cache Thursday on the road. Corn Bible has five seniors on the roster — Kaysa Carpenter, Audra Fowble, Kinsi Grube, Molli Henderson and Kennedy Listak.

The Weatherford Lady Eagles volleyball team has an 11 game win streak going as they defeated Classen SAS 3-1 Tuesday and Sharon-Mutual 3-0 Thursday. “I tried multiple lineups this week and we played a variety of levels this week,” coach Sandi Barr said.
