City approves 2022 budgets

The Weatherford City Commission approved the 2022 budgets for the City of Weatherford and Public Works Authority.

The city budgeted for $11.5 million in city sales tax for 2022, an increase of $1 million from the previous year. The city also budgeted for $1.2 million in use tax revenue, an increase of $100,000 from the previous year.

The city budgeted $340,000 for the public works authority, which includes water, sewer and sanitation services.

City Treasurer Dana Ratcliffe said the budget was based on how much revenue was brought in last year and kept pretty conservative. Additionally, the public was given a chance to speak and ask questions about the budgets before they were approved, but no questions were asked.

In other business, the board approved the 2022 contract with the fire union. Firemen will receive a 50-cent raise. Lieutenants will receive a 75-cent raise. The captain will receive a $1 raise.

The board approved minutes for the October 29 and November 10 meeting. The board general fund claims totaling, $1,377,533.51, restricted sales tax fund claims totaling $218,412.35, airport claims totaling $52,206.69 and Stafford Museum fund claims totaling $28,056.04. The board also approved Hotel/Motel operating fund claims totaling $3,897.01.
