This year’s Chris-Giving promotion is back and better than ever.

Readers may notice a slight change to this print edition — scented ink.

The scented ink will be featured to launch the Chris-Giving promotion to celebrate the scene from the movie “Elf” where Buddy the elf pours maple syrup on everything including spaghetti.

For the holiday season, some restraurants will be serving spaghetti with maple syrup for the young or young at heart. Buttered maple is one of many

Buttered maple is one of many scents used in conjunction with the WDN holiday promotion. Past editions have used peppermint, chocolate, evergreen, pumpkin spice and even snowflake to get readers into the holiday spirit.

In honor of SWPH’s production of “Elf the Musical,” the WDN Chris-Giving boxes are being rebranded as “Buddy Boxes.” Each one is filled with Elfbranded merchandise, plus more than $150 of gifts and specialty foods.

Starting today, local shoppers can register for a chance to win at participating businesses. Drawings will be every Friday and deliveries the following “Merry Monday,” with the last delivery being December 20.

For some additional fun, this year’s Christmas in the Park will recreate Santa’s park visit from the movie.

December 2, participants can enjoy Christmas cookies, hot chocolate and the everpopular snow machines while visiting with the cast of “Elf the Musical.”
