The Thomas-Fay-Custer Lady Terriers basketball team defeated Crescent 47-20 Tuesday evening and won the consolation of the Three-Rivers-Tournament last week in Fairview.

Last week, they lost to Watonga 55-43, but bounced back by beating Oklahoma Bible 48-18 and they beat Hennessey 49-36 on the conference tournament.

“I thought we played well the last two days of the Fairview tournament, but am disappointed in the way we played Thursday,” coach Jim Petree said. “I am pleased with how we finished the tournament on two wins after losing Thursday. We also played well against Crescent.”

For the tournament as a whole, R. J. Dobbins scored 9 points, Olivia Hampton scored 5 points, had 4 assists and 3 steals. Sidney Hampton scored 16 points, had 18 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals. Katelyn Jones scored 18 points, had 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Shaylee Maddox scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds. Kyla Megli scored 31 points, had 16 rebounds and 10 assists. Journey Roberts scored 4 points and had 6 rebounds. Berkeley Wright scored 40 points, had 8 steals and 6 assists.

Thomas 47, Crescent 20

Thomas played well and shared the basketball in this game. Dobbins scored 9 points, Hampton had 8 assists, Maddox scored 6 points and had 4 steals, Megli scored 7 points and 4 steals and Roberts scored 7 points.

“We shared the ball really well,” Petree said. “We forced lots of turnovers and Sydney defended really well.”

Petree said they had a fast start, which helped them get the win against Crescent.

“I thought we played really well,” Petree said. “We came out of the blocks quicker and we were able to take them out of our offense a little bit. I was pleased with this win and thought we played really well.”

Watonga 55, Thomas 43

In the first game of the tournament, Thomas struggled early on offense and only scored 14 points in the first half. Petree said they played much better in the second half, scoring 29 points. The Lady Terriers lost the game 55-43.

“I think we were intimated by their size and athleticism,” Petree said. “We realized if we had played better, especially in the first half, we might have had a chance to win.”

Thomas-Fay-Custer 49, Oklahoma Bible 18

The Lady Terriers ran the floor early and beat Oklahoma Bible, 49-18. Petree said they did a good job bouncing back after losing Thursday.

“We were not playing a team who was not as athletic as we were,” Petree said. “Our pressure was good and it carried over into beating Hennessey well Saturday. We just played well.”

Thomas 49, Hennessey 36

This game was back and forth early. Petree said the key to building their lead was shutting down Hennessey’s post player and getting her into foul trouble. Once they did that, Thomas proved to be the better tea and won the game 49-36.

“Hennessey was much different than any team we have seen this year,” Petree said. “They had a post girl who could have presented problems for us on both sides of the ball. We did a good job getting her into foul trouble. She only scored 12 points, which if I was asked about defending her and only giving 12 points, I would have taken that. We also did not have very many turnovers, which was good.”

Thomas currently has a record of 5-2. They played against Okarche Friday night. Thomas returns to action, 6:30 p.m. at Cashion.

“These are really good teams on our schedule, might be our toughest games,” Petree said. “Playing them Okarche and Cashion back to back, we will have to play really well.”
