Weatherford picks up two district wins

Weatherford baseball has won all four of their games this season in run rules and is 4-0 in district play.

The Eagles defeated Woodward Monday 16-2 and then defeated Woodward Tuesday 20-8. Weatherford is competing in the Tuttle tournament this weekend.

Weatherford 16, Woodward 2

Weatherford recorded 11 hits which helped the Eagles get this dominant win.

Weatherford scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Reece Villines scored off a sacrifice out, when Jayden Minter hit a ground ball to second base. Cameryn Pruitt hit a ground ball and reached first base. As a result, Caden hunter scored from third base.

Woodward scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning with the bases loaded. These were the only two runs scored.

The Eagles hit two doubles in the top of the second inning. Carter Teasley scored when Brett Bozarth hit a ground ball to second base and reached on an error.

Minter recorded 2 RBI’s when he hit a ground ball and made it to second base. Bozarth and Villines scored on this play. Pruitt also recorded two RBI’s when he hit a double.

Hunter and Minter scored on this play. The Eagles added two more runs to their lead in the top of the third inning. Teasley scored when Grady Chaplain hit a ground ball and reached off an error. Chaplin scored when he stole home and Villines hit a single on the play as well. Weatherford put the game out of reach when they scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning. Sam Hoffman recorded an RBI when he hit a single into left field and Minter scored.

Teasley recorded a sacrifice ground out, when he was thrown out at first and Pruitt scored. Hoffman scored when Chaplin recorded an RBI single.

With the bases loaded, Hunter recorded three RBI’s when he hit a double into left field. Chaplin, Kason Page and Villines scored.

Hunter scored when Minter hit a ground ball, but reached the base of an error.

No more runs were scored and the Eagles won the first game of the series 16-2 in a run rule.

Weatherford 20, Woodward 8

Woodward scored three runs in the top of the first inning.

Weatherford responded with three runs of their own to tie the game at three after an inning of play. Villines recorded an RBI single to center field and Bozarth scored. Pruitt recorded an RBI single and Villines scored.

Hunter scored when Hoffman hit a sacrifice fly ball into left field.

Woodward had an answer, as they scored three runs in the top of the second inning, but the Eagles responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring six runs. Villines recorded another RBI single and Bozarth scored. Pruitt recorded a 2 run RBI when he hit a single line drive into right field. Villines and Hunter scored.

Minter scored when the bases were loaded and he was walked. Pruitt scored off a passed ball when the bases were loaded. Chaplin hit a ground ball and was thrown out, but Hoffman scored on this play.

Weatherford really got the bats going in the bottom of the third inning, which included two triples as they scored eight runs. Minter recorded a three RBI’s when he hit a triple with the bases loaded. Bozarth, Villines and Hunter scored.

Pruitt scored on another passed ball. Chaplin recorded an RBI on a single to left field and Hoffman scored. Teasley scored on a wild pitch. Villines also recorded two RBI’s when he hit a triple to right field. Chaplin and Bozarth scored.

Woodward scored a run in the top of the fourth inning. Weatherford responded with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hoffman recorded two RBI’s when he hit a triple into center field. Minter and Pruitt scored. Teasley whit a sacrifice ground ball to third base, but Hoffman scored.

Woodward scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, but Weatherford won the game 20-8.
