Armando Alvarez is a senior at Hydro-Eakly High School and has been attending Hydro-Eakly his entire life.

His parents are Ernesto and Nereyda Alvarez.

Alvarez doesn’t have a concrete plan of his life after high school, but his main focus is working. He said he is hoping to start his own business.

Many seniors are missing out on a lot of activities they have seen other senior classes in the past get to do. Alvarez said he feels like he has missed out on getting to do all the senior activities with his class.

Alvarez’s favorite high school memory is getting to run cross country. “I never understood all the hype about

“I never understood all the hype about sports until I joined cross country,” he said. “It was so much fun, and it really showed me I can do anything I put my mind to.”

Alvarez would like to thank his mom who has always told him to focus on what is important and to try to do his best.

“My mom is the person to thank for everything,” Alvarez said. Alvarez said he has had influential

Alvarez said he has had influential teachers, but the one who stood out to him the most was his math teacher, Cathy McKellips.

“Mrs. McKellips is my favorite teacher because I was always able to talk to her on a personal level, and she was never scared to tell me what needed to be said,” Alvarez said.

Some advice Alvarez wished he knew before he got into high school was, “not everything people make out to be important actually is,” he said. “Don’t stress over something other people are working on. Focus on yourself and what you want.”
