County renews equipment lease agreements

The Custer County Board of Commissioners renewed several lease agreements for county equipment during Monday’s regular meeting.

The board approved an equipment lease renewal with ODOT for the following:

• John Deere tractors for District 1

• Caterpillar dozer for District 1

• John Deere grader for District 3

• Peterbilt dump truck for District 2

The board also approved six lease purchase renewals for the following equipment:

• Weatherford Fire wildland upfit apparatus

• 2019 Caterpillar track loader for District 2

• 2015 Caterpillar grader for District 2

• 2016 John Deere excavator for District 2

• Two 2019 Mack trucks for District 3

• Three 2019 Caterpillar grades for District 1

In other business, the board also approved three annual agreements with the Eastern Oklahoma Youth Services, Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc., and Pitney Bowes. The Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc., agreement was passed for a second time because it did not include a service which allows the county to pay Medicare rates for inmates who are sent to the emergency room. The board approved a resolution which outlines the county’s procedures for the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards — a form which shows how federal award money was spent.

The board approved two transfers — $600 from District 1 M&O to District 1 Personal Services and $41.98 from Treasurer’s Office M&O to Personal Services.

The board approved resolutions to surplus and junk a computer monitor for District 3. The board also approved an ODOT insurance verification for fiscal year 2021 and an interlocal agreement between Custer County and South Western Oklahoma Development Authority 911 services.

The board approved resolutions designating depository banks for Custer County and officer salaries for fiscal year 2020-21. The board approved blanket purchase orders and purchase orders for payment.

In unforeseen business, the board once again discussed enacting a burn ban. However, none of the were in favor of one at the time. The commissioners also said they have protocols to follow and the county does not qualify at the moment.

The commissioners advise everyone to be safe and smart when burning. As of Tuesday afternoon, Western Oklahoma is in low fire danger advisement through Monday.

Jordan Nel will become the interim Custer County OSU Extension Office Director beginning today. County Clerk Melissa Graham said it could be a year before a new Extension director is installed at the county office.
